This wonderful adventure began in 1962 in Chicoutimi with Mr. Robert Gravel, a visionary who built a motel in the middle of a field with the idea that one day there would be commercial development all around it. At first, it was a hotel with 55 rooms and 4 halls, each with 10,000 sq. ft. of floor space. In 1975, Yvonne Néron and Armand Couture took over ownership of the establishment, transforming it from a motel into a hotel. In 1988, their sons Sylvain and Jean-Marc Couture took over the reins of the family business. In 2018, Jean-Marc Couture retired, leaving the business in the hands of his brother Sylvain, who became the main shareholder. The owner, keen to keep the hotel in regional hands, joined forces with Jean-Benoît Gilbert, a long-standing employee who is now a shareholder and partner. The Chicoutimi hotel continues to evolve over the years.

With over 60 years of expertise, Hotel Le Montagnais in Saguenay offers a range of services to suit all types of clientele and stays. The hotel currently boasts 302 rooms and suites to suit all budgets, and 16 multi-service rooms totaling 25,000 sq. ft. Le Montagnais Chicoutimi boasts the largest hotel and convention center in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.
